Afton Wagner, PharmD

Afton Wagner, PharmD, serves as Senior Manager, Pharmacy Policy & Technical Standards at Walgreen Co. 

Afton has unique expertise in health care regulatory policy, legislation, and professional pharmacy practice. For over 15 years, she has provided expertise and contributed to policy issues in the areas of Medicare, Medicaid, health care reform and health information technology and standards. In her current role at Walgreens, Afton leads efforts to ensure the company is influencing and properly informed and engaged on trends and developments in health care and pharmacy policy. Additionally, she represents Walgreens with technical standards organizations to ensure the company is well positioned with such standards.

Prior to joining Walgreens, Afton held several policy and management roles across the pharmaceutical industry and industry trade organizations, including Sandoz, AMCP, HIMSS, NCPA, and NACDS. She also served as an assistant professor at Notre Dame of Maryland University School of Pharmacy. Afton received her PharmD from Northeastern University and completed a Fellowship in Association Management at NACDS. She is an active member of NCPDP, AMCP, HIMSS, APhA and the Virginia Pharmacists Association.
