Global (GIB) Initiative for Influenza Vaccine Equity (GIIVE): Ensuring Universal Access

Section 1: Use Case Identifiers

Use Case ID: HHS-CDC-00007
Agency: HHS
Op Div/Staff Div: CDC
Use Case Topic Area: Health & Medical
Is the AI use case found in the below list of general commercial AI products and services?
None of the above.
What is the intended purpose and expected benefits of the AI?
Literature Review

The output is a list of abstracts that may have related information to vaccine inequity. These identified abstracts will be reviewed "by-hand" and then those associated publications will be reviewed by epidemiologists further.
Describe the AI system's outputs.
The Through APIs, large language models are used to review a large number of abstracts to help identify which kinds of groups may be least likely to obtain vaccines in the global space--marginalized groups within country, for example.
Stage of Development: Acquisition and/or Development
Is the AI use case rights-impacting, safety-impacting, both, or neither?
Neither

Section 3: Data and Code

Do you have access to an enterprise data catalog or agency-wide data repository that enables you to identify whether or not the necessary datasets exist and are ready to develop your use case?
No
Describe any agency-owned data used to train, fine-tune, and/or evaluate performance of the model(s) used in this use case.
Data used are published journal articles which may or may not be owned by CDC but may be accessed either through freely accessible sources or specific agreements CDC has to research articles.
